Tourist Attractions in Bikaner

Junagarh Fort, BikanerBikaner is located in the northern part of Rajasthan; it lies in the midst of Thar Desert, and was founded by Rao Bhikaji in 1488 A.D.  Bikaner is famous for its rich history, rugged forts & lavish palaces and also a well maintained wild life sanctuary.

Bikaner is a royal city surrounded by a mammoth fortification wall, more than 5 km in circumference and about 5 to 9m high. Bikaner is bright and alive and colorful with its traditional costumes, vivacious fairs and festivals, paintings and murals and electrifying wares and hordes of artistic skills that have been practiced there for centuries.

Bikaner is the anchorage of ' The Ship of the Desert-Camel' as there is a National Camel Research and breeding farm in Bikaner dedicated to study this unique creature of God which can live without food and water for several days. Bikaner is also famous for its 'bhujia' (salted, crispy and spicy edibles).

Most comfortable outfit to wear will be loose cotton clothes in summer and heavy woolen clothes to keep you warm in winters. Better to carry hat or a scarf and drink plenty of water to avoid heat strokes. Also remember to wear comfortable shoes when you cover the beautiful sight-seeing of magnificent forts and palaces in Bikaner.
